YAML

I started with the old and so well known « .conf » file.
Things used to be … you know … Microsoft things

Then, I don’t know how, we all move to « XML » descriptions
But we do miss so much those, not so sexy « .conf » files,
That we found useful to change the content a little bit and call it « .properties »!
Yep!

Then, the D Day came. The « JSON » format. Waw!
The XML detractors were (and are still) so damn happy!
XML is sexier but JSON is definitely so short.  « Think bytes ! »

Actually, I am one of those who thought JSON was the future.
But now there is this … « YAML » thing.
« YAML » stands for « YAML form  Ain’t Markup Language » (Skip that question in your mind)
In XML, and JSON you have to close « elements » (really annoying).
Even if it is obvious every level has to be closed,
You still need to write it – aka – consumes more bytes.

But YAML, OMG! It is sexy! It is short (more than JSON). Element don’t need to be closed.
Tu put it shortly : .properties + .xml + .json = YAML (.yml).

So, yes, I’m totally IN.
